When bookshop owner Molly Fitzgerald stumbles upon historian Finnegan O'Reilly's body at the base of Dooley's historic lighthouse, what appears to be a tragic accident quickly reveals itself as something far more sinister. With the town's beloved Umbrella Festival in full swing, Molly finds herself drawn into a forty-year-old mystery that someone is still willing to kill to keep buried.

Armed with her supernatural "sight" and the help of her leprechaun friends Finn and Hinky, Molly uncovers evidence of a decades-old cover-up involving the lighthouse and a group of teenagers known as "the Summer Crew." When her eight-year-old nephews begin receiving visits from the ghost of seventeen-year-old Niamh O'Malley—a girl who supposedly committed suicide in 1985—Molly realizes the dead have been waiting forty years for justice.

But as more bodies appear and mysterious umbrella charms begin surfacing around town, Molly discovers that Dooley's picturesque facade hides secrets that reach back generations. With her entire family drawn into the investigation and someone targeting those who know too much, Molly must race against time to solve a puzzle that connects past and present in deadly ways.
