The Reluctant Ferryman is a genre-bending odyssey that begins with death, and only gets stranger from there. When Temple Granada awakens on a dusty street under a blistering sky, parched and disoriented, he learns two things in quick succession: he's no longer alive, and his afterlife begins in the desolate town of El Marino. Guided by Ford Clayton, a chain-smoking, deadpan former B-movie cowboy turned unwilling guardian of the recently deceased, Temple joins a ragtag trio of other lost souls, Angie Carmel, a street-smart runaway with a hardened past, and Ragsdale "Rags" Rich, a reluctant everyman who bumbles into heroism, to navigate a hellish limbo where the road to redemption is paved with dirt, danger, and unlikely alliances.

The world they've landed in is brutal and surreal, stalked by roving gangs, half-witted captives, and sulfur-laced winds that howl with unseen menace. Each of them arrived here by dying in the act of saving another, and now they must find out if that selflessness earns them peace or deeper torment. As they journey through outlaw settlements, subterranean sanctuaries, and visions that defy belief, the trio confronts both external horrors and internal reckonings, all under the cryptic guidance of Ford, their world-weary host who never asked to be anyone's ferryman.

Haunting, darkly funny, and ultimately redemptive, The Reluctant Ferryman explores what it means to be brave in your final moments and what might await when courage alone isn't enough to set you free.
