Convincing my best friends and business partners to trade in their tailored suits and penthouses for cowboy boots and rustic living on the Second Chance Ranch was easy compared to convincing the curvy real estate broker that I wanted, no, needed, her for more than her clients' land.

Most people don't know who my family is—was.
And I've refused to cash in on my trust fund.
Until I couldn't.
With both my grandfather and mother gone, their questionably earned fortune had recently rolled over to nine zeroes and was now under my control.

Which has prompted two goals.
First, spend as much of the fortune on the ranch and those in need.
And second, and most important, show Kelee I'm more than the retired football player, product spokesperson, and mislabeled womanizer the public thinks they knew.

I'm Archer King.
I've led a team to a Super Bowl and my company to the Fortune 500.
So I'm not above using whatever it takes to win Kelee's trust and her love.
Hell, I'm not above begging.
It might even be fun.

Could Archer be more arrogant?
Just because he's no longer after my client's (best friend's) land doesn't mean we ever need to see each other again.
He thinks after two years we can become friends—more than friends.
Ha!

Okay, sure he's handsome, and he gets bonus points for intelligence, but that won't change my mind about relationships.
Thanks to my parents' codependency, I'm immune.
However, he thinks he can woo me or whatever.

But what if his lame attempts at humor and charm are kinda, maybe, sorta working?
Like I'd ever tell him.
Please. Don't. Tell. Him.
It would only encourage him.
And an encouraged Archer?
Is a lethal Archer.

Unfortunately, Cedar Ridge isn't as small as it used to be, and now he's everywhere I am.
And his new venture, playing cowboy and helping veterans, may just be my undoing.

What they both learn?
Second chances are often the only ones that matter.
