I've known you for years, but you just met me yesterday

Wylan and Axel have known each other for years. But only one of them knows about the other.

Meeting new people has never been something Wylan enjoyed. She would much rather be in a secluded area where she can keep to herself without any of the drama that comes with being around others. That becomes difficult when she spontaneously moves to Tennessee and catches the eye of Axel, a talkative, unfairly handsome zookeeper who takes it upon himself to show the pretty new girl around town.

Wylan swore to herself that she wouldn't get involved with another man after the falling out of her last relationship. She wanted a clean slate. Something new. Something clear. But it doesn't take long for her to start falling for Axel and his charming ways. But she becomes aware that she's unsure whether the comfort she feels while being in his arms is due to the familiarity or what Axel can give her access to.

It's only when an old lover makes an appearance that all of the things Wylan has been trying to keep herself protected from begin falling apart at her fingertips. She's forced to either exploit the secrets she's been hiding from Axel or lose him forever.
