Long before Deston was born, the gods chose him to be the match that drives away the darkness in the world. But though that may be the gods' wishes, it has never been Deston's. All he's ever wanted is to be accepted as one of the fae, and to live happily-ever-after in Tir na-nÓg with his parents and Margaux.

But wishes don't always come true. Plus, it's near impossible to fight one's destiny, especially if you're born of two worlds like Deston. And every day it becomes clearer the longer he delays the inevitable, the more danger he puts his loved ones in. For he is the only fae who is half human, which mean he can do what no other fae can—kill Grossard. And that is the only way to save the two realms now that Grossard possesses the Shard of Erebus.
