John Smith, former Chief Executive of Smiths Screws, has sold the family company and looks forward to a less hectic life in the small Midlands town of Bisbury. His wife, Candida, is less certain about the arrival of her "Space Invader".

Senior insurance executive, Roger Mortlock, is shocked at being forced into early retirement before his time. His wife, Mary, encourages him to take up charitable works and put something back into society. Roger is not so convinced, reckoning that he has not yet taken enough out of society.

Both men join forces to purchase a yacht, Fandango, and begin to enjoy the exhilaration of the summer sea breezes, whilst their wives continue to follow their own ambitions.

A sudden gust of wind blows the two men's plans severely off-course causing them to adjust to a route of deceit, mischief and the close attention of the ambitious Diana Vowlds.
