Each year the Sportsfile team of photographers travel the highways and byways to capture the football and hurling season in all its colours and moods from the dark days of winter to the high dramas of summer.
For the 2012 season Ray McManus and his team of award-winning photographers have again captured something original, something off-beat, which keeps the book fresh and leaves images that linger in the mind. It's all in the eye of the beholder.
This is the 16th edition of A Season of Sundays, Sportsfile's highly individualistic review of the GAA year in pictures.
Sportsfile's approach to their review is truly democratic. Of course, they cover the big games in detail, the big names, the defining moments of the year, but they also find room for those who perform the less glamorous roles. The big occasions are also big days out for the men at the turnstiles, the scoreboard operators, the groundsmen, those who run the shops and raise the national flag, gardaĆ on the terraces and, above all, the spectators who add so much colour.
A Season of Sundays will leave us with the same warm glow as we look back on the images that defined 2012.
