Jeffery Kilmore, M.D., an ENT (Ears, Nose, and Throat) physician encountered patients in his office and emergency room referrals with cases of sudden deafness called Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss, a rare medical condition. The same day Doctor Darcy Clark, a research veterinarian from University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine, encountered deaf bats and four deaf deer in Ocala national Forest. Jeff by happenchance overhears Darcy's discussion with a co-worker, Kevin McCoy about their findings in the forest at an Ocala restaurant and joins in on their conversation. They team up and pursue the cause of this rare medical condition in humans and animals. An area in Ocala National Forest seemed to be the focal point of where they'll find what's causing this mysterious deafness.
