Hebrews The writer of Hebrews does not identify himself but points out to his Jewish compatriots that the coning of the Lord Jesus Christ has ushered in a new covenant. This Jesus, whom the Jewish authorities had crucified was their Messiah, the all sufficient Son of God. The writer of Hebrews points to the absolute superiority of Christ as a once and for all sacrifice for sins, thus doing away with the old system of animal sacrifice as laid down by Moses. This covenant was powerless to make a person holy through the forgiveness of sin, but the Lord Jesus Christ through His shed blood is all sufficient and complete. Those that cling to the old system relying on it to get them to heaven are doomed to failure. The writer to his fellow Hebrews is plain. Christ's sacrifice is all sufficient and complete.
