As children of God, we must make every effort to keep the flame of the Lampstand burning. Isaiah 11 speaks of the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. The seven flames of the Spirit, or the seven Spirits of God, are a symbolic representation of the Holy Spirit's multifaceted nature and power, often depicted as seven lamps of fire burning before the throne of God in the Book of Revelation. These flames represent different aspects or manifestations of the Holy Spirit's presence and work. The concept of the seven spirits is found in Revelation 4:5, where John describes "seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God". Isaiah 11:2-3, therefore, describes seven aspects of the Spirit of the Lord. This is, of course, not a literal enumeration of seven separate spirits, but rather a way of describing the fullness of the Holy Spirit's influence on this individual. These seven aspects, while distinct, work together to characterise the leadership and character of the person upon whom the Spirit rests. As believers, we need to burn for God, meaning that we burn with the fire of the Spirit. But if we truly burn in the might of the Spirit, it means we burn so that all seven flames of the Spirit are operating within us. By studying these seven individual characteristics, we can gain insight into how the seven spirits collectively manifest themselves in our lives as followers of Jesus Christ.
