It is 1878, and young, beautiful, and naïve Mary escapes her engagement to the wrong man. Disturbed by the escapades of her sexually open sister-in-law and brother, she embarks from England on a journey to far-off Australia where she has taken a position as governess to a young girl living with her widowed father on a ranch. Arriving unceremoniously, Mary meets the intriguing and mysterious ranch manager Bluey.
