Chris Rock is known for his honest sense of humor, a quality that has propelled him to the forefront of the entertainment industry. Born in South Carolina, Rock moved with his family to the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of New York, where he was the only black student at an all-white school. He subsequently dropped out, but found salvation in doing stand-up comedy in a small local club. These club appearances led to a regular stint on Saturday Night Live, then movie roles and HBO specials, into creating his own content. Rock has produced the acclaimed autobiographical sitcom Everybody Hates Chris. This updated biography spotlights Rocks life, contributions, and influence, and his legacy for new generations of Black Americans.
