To get healthy, an old man starts to dance. Suddenly his neighbors hate his guts.
(Note: "Last Dance in Hoboken" is short story. It is also available in the author's 10-story collection, Daggyland #2.)
* * *
Vinnie is an old fart from Hoboken, New Jersey.
A city of mozzarella, cheesesteak sandwiches, and freshly sliced gabagool.
A city of kneecappers, knuckleheads, meat-cutters, and dockworkers.
When a bad ticker nearly kills Vinnie dead, he wises up. He resolves to get healthy, once and for all.
He does what any gentlemen of a certain age would do to reverse the long, undignified slide to Fat City.
He starts to dance. Modern dance.
Now everyone on this side of the Hudson River hates his guts.
