Olivia was written as a gift to the daughter of a dear friend of mine. A story to encourage this young woman to stand tall and true to her life in her generation.
Jack Sailing was a story that developed and grew on its own. As I looked at life and how some get taken advantage of; I needed an outlet for a simple guy on a sailboat to find a way to help the "little guy". I really enjoyed writing this story and might revisit Jack one day.
Return to Teribithia was a challenge to me. A friend asked me to consider writing a story that would continue the wonderful children's novel, The Bridge to Teribithia. I bought the book, for I had not read the story in many years, and as I read it, the continuation of the story seemed to flow. We shall have to see how it develops over time.
Stories of Living was what happened when I sat, was quiet and considered what my ancestors might have been doing in their lives 200 years ago. In my family there is a definite "mountain gene", a "settled gene", a "water gene" and a "wondering gene". I can name those in my generation with each. I wanted to explore others in my past lineage who might have had those genes.
And so stories grow, develop, mature and then create other stories.
As the Blue Dog Stories continue, we shall see where they take us.
Thank you for reading and for sharing with everyone you know and might know!
