Geremia Solaris has returned to the places of his youth convinced that he can forget, at least for a while, the endless evil he experienced in Florence. But a strange message left by the librarian who introduced him to the world of books and who committed suicide thirty years earlier, under never clarified circumstances, will drag him into a dark reality he never imagined he would find even there, in such a peripheral place, at the foot of his mountains and in the shadow of the ancient library that had seen him grow up.
Thus he will begin a hallucinatory journey among strange deaths, ancient, never dormant deities, hidden manuscripts, codes to be deciphered, processions of the dead, blasphemous rites and books capable of summoning demons. In a whirlwind of events where everyone plays a part and where Geremia discovers that a master's affection or a woman's love may not be what they appear at first glance. In a world where the only feelings that seem to win out over everything are fear that comes from far away and hatred, an irrepressible and murderous hatred.
Will Geremia be able to survive his ghosts and the dark forces threatening him and solve the mystery of his master's death, which thirty years later everyone has now forgotten?
