Getting called out to an isolated crossroads in the middle of nowhere for murky and mysterious reasons describes Cary Redmond's job as magical Protector perfectly. Literally the job description: show up in strange places and protect people. And as a walking, talking Kevlar vest with a magical shield, protecting good guys is straight forward work. Most of the time.

But when there's no one to protect, Cary risks getting sucked into the very dangers she's there to prevent. When not channeling her Protector magic, Cary faces the same vulnerabilities as any human.
