After being influenced by popular rap culture, 18-year-old Kenneth Jr. embraces sagging pants as a form of identity—much to the disappointment of his father, Kenneth Sr., who views the trend as a symbol of disrespect and danger. Tensions explode when Kenneth Jr. pushes the boundary further, arriving at a formal dinner in sagging pants and a visible thong, triggering public humiliation and arrest.
When his father makes the devastating decision to leave him in jail as a form of tough love, Kenneth Jr. experiences traumatic initiation by gang members—scars that mark him long after his release. As the family fractures, with his mother leaving the household in protest, Kenneth Jr. struggles to piece himself together.
But healing comes slowly through unexpected avenues—court-mandated therapy, a school art program called THREADS, and a discovery of unsent letters written by his father during his incarceration. As father and son finally confront their brokenness, a new chapter begins—not built on discipline or shame, but on truth, art, and grace.
