I also recently came across an Instagram post about Vincent Van Gough's painting The Starry Night. Posted by Matthew Olivier and he pointed out something along the lines (I could have misunderstood) of the town in the painting doesn't actually exist, and that the image got conjured up while in a dreamlike state.... The giveaway of this is the distortion of the tree, which reaches the sky.

I was thinking about that interpretation and painting, every often when writing this.
