The Stone in the Gorge
By Brinda Phokeerdass
An ancient force awakens. A world teeters on the edge of ruin.
When a meteorite crashes into the heart of Black River Gorges National Park in Mauritius, it unleashes more than just a celestial rock. The impact fractures the land and stirs a dark, long-forgotten presence buried beneath the island. Strange black vines begin to spread, mutating both flora and fauna into grotesque, twisted versions of their former selves. The island's balance begins to unravel — animals turn violent, trails disappear, and entire villages vanish overnight.
Amara, a young park ranger with ancestral ties to the island's ancient shamans, is thrust into a desperate fight for survival. With the help of Dr. Rajen, an exobiologist sent to study the meteor's origins, Amara uncovers a terrifying truth: the stone is not just a meteor, but a seed — a part of a malevolent organism that has lain dormant for millennia. As the corruption spreads, Amara and Rajen must race against time to decipher ancient rituals and confront the ancient force that is reshaping the island into something far darker and more dangerous.
In a race to stop the entity before it consumes everything, Amara must come to terms with her bloodline's connection to the stone — and make an impossible choice. Will she be the island's savior, or its final sacrifice?
The Stone in the Gorge is a haunting tale of ancient power, sacrifice, and the battle to survive against a force older than humanity itself.
