I have a BSBA in Marketing and an MBA from the University of Denver, along with over five years of experience in corporate roles ranging from market research to development and forecasting. My career spans industries such as mining, oil, lumber, shipping, and consumer goods, and I've been involved in creating everything from cookbooks and calendars to residential and industrial real estate projects. I've also owned a country bar and several car washes, served on nonprofit boards and church councils, and continue to manage real estate ventures worth millions.
But my story isn't just about business. I was raised in a working-class household where extras weren't handed out they had to be earned. If I wanted something beyond the basics, I worked for it whether that meant doing chores for allowance, selling hundreds of boxes of chocolates to afford summer camp, or missing Saturday morning cartoons while cleaning the garage. My parents made sacrifices, stretching every dollar to provide a home in the city and a small ranch in the mountains. Thanks to that, I grew up with the rare gift of experiencing both urban life and the rural way riding horses, racing cattle, and learning firsthand what grit and perspective really mean.
As a single father, I spent years coaching my sons' sports teams, always putting family first. I also sing and play piano in public from time to time. Through successes and setbacks, I've come to believe that truth is personal—and worth pursuing. In I Am Crazy... And You Are, too!, I encourage readers to think for themselves, step away from conformity, and choose authenticity over approval. I've been around the block a few times. That's where I've learned what matters.
