At seventeen years old, John Anderson knew the direction his life would take. A young man on the cusp of adulthood, his physical and mental strength, perseverance, and patriotism guided him to the only path he would accept: joining the Army.
As John's leadership and dedication grow in recognition among peers and higher up in the command, he becomes more and more steadfast in his role in the infantry. Yet, when he begins to face the brutalities of war in Afghanistan, John must fight frightening and dangerous enemies he never considered, trauma and despair. In the end, John must learn to overcome his own demons, or succumb.
