The past is a story. One he's been rewriting for years.

1992. Five teenage friends stand poised on the cusp of their adult lives, pushing boundaries, exploring sexuality, creating identities. Three of them are liars. Between them are two secrets. And when one night changes everything, only four are left to carry the guilt.

September 2024. Mike, Jen, Will and Simon meet in a luxury secluded villa in Marbella on the anniversary of Heidi's death. It's intended to be a commemoration of their friend in what would have been her fiftieth year. But they each arrive with their own agenda. For one it's a chance to make a confession. Another is coming to terms with a health diagnosis and longs for company. Another, recently heartbroken, seeks solace in the one person they've never truly got over. The other has come to lay the past to rest and move on.

In the stifling, late-summer Spanish heat, the four struggle to put their differences behind them and heal old wounds. At the same time, the story of the past unfolds from each of their perspectives, their actions a chip on the windscreen of their lives that at first splinters, then cracks, before shattering entirely.

All of them played a part in what happened. All could have altered the outcome. But only one doesn't feel the need to atone. Not when thirty-two years after the event, the evidence is clear. Truth exists only in the moment. And for every new moment, there's a new truth.

Suspenseful and moving, In Between The Gaps is a haunting exploration of troubled young love, secrets and tragedy, and the fragile nature of perspective.
