In the coastal city of Veracruz, Mexico, art theft investigator Ana Morales encounters a mysterious 19th-century portrait that appears to change between viewings. The painting depicts Lorenzo Izar, a talented artist who vanished over a century ago. With the help of Eliseo, a blind orphan with supernatural sight, Ana discovers that Lorenzo made a pact with an ancient entity called La Pintora, trapping his soul within his self-portrait. The painting has been consuming the life force of its owners, growing stronger with each victim. Ana learns she is the descendant of Elena Morales, Lorenzo's lost love, making her uniquely positioned to break the curse. During a lunar eclipse, Ana and Eliseo perform a ritual using a reversal painting Ana created, finally freeing Lorenzo's spirit from the canvas prison. Though the immediate threat ends, Ana receives a message from Eliseo three months later warning that the entity is seeking a new vessel in Oaxaca. Accepting her role in this supernatural legacy, Ana prepares to confront the ancient power once more, understanding that her connection to this dark magic is far from over.
