With the disappearance of Kacey Maddox, Duncan Powell and Sebastian Pearce are on the case. Duncan, the head alchemist of the Children of Asclepius, and Sebastian, a Detective for Unit Zero, have formed a bond with the werewolf, and they know that he has either gone looking for more Silver Dragon, or something terrible has happened to him.

Kacey, meanwhile, is in the clutches of the nefarious Adam Harper, head of the Silver Blood vampire clan. Harper wants nothing more but the destruction of all were creatures, and when Kacey is somehow unaffected by Silver Dragon, he wants to know why. He concocts a long reaching plan, and Kacey ends up descending into a hell of Harper's making.
