Born into the black stallion herd, Keldron—a mixed-race brown colt—faces a cruel fate before even taking his first breath. His deceased father, a white stallion from the desert, had mysteriously wandered away from his herd and was not there to witness his birth. Their forbidden bond—his father's union with Neama, a black mare—sparked the wrath of Bolt, the black stallion herd's ruthless leader. In a duel fueled by rage and resentment, Bolt kills Keldron's father and then claims Neama as his mate. But when the colt is born, Bolt discovers the truth: Keldron is not his.
