Reapers rarely pray. Usually, they can handle anything thrown at them, except a vampire, who can shield his presence, and laughs when the Reaper fights back.
Drystan Caszmor, known as the Sorrow, was born to exact revenge for the Dead, deals with death at least once a week. Majick summons him to the victim, and he relives their lives, studying every detail, to find the killer. This leaves him battered and bruised. His body is covered with scars. He's used to it.
And then he finds a killer who uses majick to protect himself, and fights shielded, so Drystan can't even pinpoint him to deflect blows. For the first time in his life, Drystan prays.
Ben Folly, known as the Memoraie for the Dead, has the ability to relive memories for the Dead before he sends them on, and to change a few, if needed. That skill also works on everyone—except his mate.
He defends Drystan in several fights, thinking the man is just part of the job, and falls for him. In his most secret fantasies, when he takes Drystan home, he stays. In truth, he's about to be married to someone. At the dinner the night before the wedding, Ben walks into the restaurant to discover his fiancé kissing the hell out of his twin brother and leaves to take his honeymoon anyway where Drystan lives.
Fate keeps throwing them together, and Ben learns that his kind doesn't answer prayers; they respond to their mates, and no distance can keep them apart—even death.
Is it as easy as just accepting it? Not with family drama and a killer on the loose out to destroy them.
