Are Human Rights As A Concept Misused?

Are there too many wild ideas that are bandied about as human rights?

Are there too many things that are labelled as human rights?

Indeed, apart from the most basic right to live unmolested, there is a great plethora of human rights that are desirable but not essential. Some of these are even so glamorized and outlandish that they can hardly be considered rights.

The highly inflammatory human rights issues have been terribly misused, misrepresented and distorted to suit the selfish national interest of some of the world's most powerful nations.

International politics must return to a friendly and cooperative basis of rational dialogue and consultation if enduring peace is to be achieved around the world for all humankind.
