She was grateful to get into Gameland.
Now she's desperate to get back out.
Amy Raven insists that she's innocent. She never saw the steroids until the U of I basketball coach found them in Amy's locker. Expelled and friendless, she takes a dead end job at Grater Gameland, an abandoned theme park that's preparing to make a comeback. But Gunther Grater's not interested in re-opening his father's park. He only wants to use it to trap Amy for himself. And he's enlisted nine other gamers to compete in a deadly hunt to track her down.
Given a pair of night vision goggles and a hunting knife, Amy finds herself fighting to escape an onslaught of predators, each with their own deranged plans for Amy. To survive and escape, she must outwit, outmaneuver, and outrun each one of them, while dodging their uniquely chosen weapons.
But how can she win her freedom when even Gameland's rides are rigged against her?
The only way out is through.
WHAT READERS ARE SAYING:
"A one-person Hunger Games with traps and ambushes. Hair-raising!"
- Thom Reese, author of The Empty and The Huntington Adventures series.
"Packed with drama and action from the start, this edge-of-your-seat, young adult novel will grip adults as well as teens. I loved the characters, each one distinctive, as much as the fascinating plot. Randall Allen Dunn is an amazing storyteller, able to make readers feel like they are in the midst of the action as Amy Raven fights to survive in a crazy game of life and death. Her character is wonderfully realistic, flawed, strong, sometimes insecure, other times confident, always worth rooting for. Definitely worth reading and sharing. I look forward to reading another novel by this talented author."
- Susan Miura, author of Signs in the Dark
"Heart-racing, can't catch your breath action. Dunn's writing style quickly pulls a reader in and doesn't let go! Amy is in the game of her life in one of the creepiest settings that I can imagine, and if that isn't enough, Dunn keeps the terror flowing with twists that you'll never see coming. The action feels so real, it had me on the edge of my seat, yelling at the character!"
"Den lives up to its Action Thriller description! The main character, Amy, is no princess-waiting-for-rescue; she is thrown into a terrifying situation and has to use her wits and skills to attempt escape. This story gives you the feeling you had when you played hide-and-seek, holding your breath while you can hear them just a few feet away, but multiplied tenfold. This is a book I would've absolutely loved as a young adult reader and very much enjoyed as a not-so-young-adult reader. Check it out!"
"Amy is such a well-developed character that had me gripped from the start. After learning about her incident and the growing wall between her family and friends, I instantly found myself cheering for her, hoping justice would rise. The story takes a fun turn when the element of danger is thrown into the mix and Amy must fight through the twists and turns hurled at her.
Hands down, Amy was my girl. She's a smart and strong female character that I really admired. The MC brought encouragement and a beautiful display of survival. This is why I loved this book, these types of stories. Wish to read more books like this. Overall, can't go wrong here. Lots of action and suspense that keeps you interested. It was one of those fun reads where I found myself tearing through the chapters and not paying any mind to the time or percentage of reading progress. Totally immersive. Highly recommend.
