Two young men from the rebellious province arrive in a village during the New Year celebrations. Ah'Lei is captivated by the allure of the Island's secrets and is determined to meet the overseers. His encounter with Wu Sung, the Guardian holding the highest authority, proves fateful for both, sparking an undeniable attraction.
The Guardian takes him to the Island for genetic testing, which the young man had always avoided. The results are astonishing, and upon returning to his village, Ah'Lei and his friend Khai find themselves in imminent danger of being abducted by forces from the dead world outside Jingtŭ.
