Wherever you are today, stop, and look all around you. Chances are you're looking at a veteran of combat. In his head may be relative peace and calm, but more likely in his head is pain, anger, sadness, and depression. I don't mean the "Fortunate Son" of a Senator or President, and I don't mean the guilded and insulated experience of an officer (no doubt there are officers who know these experiences, but the vast majority do not and tell tales of bullshit); I mean the unheralded unfortunate enlisted man or NCO who has faced something beyond your experience, beyond your immediate ability to comprehend. This man may be ready to blow his brains out, cut his own throat, or drink cyanide just to stop that pain. He is a veteran of killing, for you, in your name, for your cause(s). He may have seen so much death and destruction within a relatively short period of time... experiences that would make your head spin or your heart stop if you felt his pain. Yet, he attempts to live still and survive... This work is an attempt to enlighten you as to how a boy becomes a man and attaches himself to humanity, as well as the combat veteran's situation – why he is like he is – and your part in causing this situation. You are as guilty as a lying President, Congress, and CIA in causing and allowing outrages and atrocities to be committed in your name. You may believe that a vet's voluntary military service contract absolves you, but it does not!
