The start of a new school year should be an exciting time. Jessica Goode-Proctor isn't really feeling very excited for it. Being forced to attend Raven's Pointe Academy, the premiere magical arts school in the world, Jessica wants nothing more than to just be normal. If dealing with her domineering mother wasn't enough, to top it all off now she gets to add her to the list of professors at the academy too. Tensions run high in her new school as races once viewed as monsters, are finally allowed to attend. Surrounded by these "monsters" Jessica soon finds herself reluctantly making new friends, friends her mother would never approve of.
Things at the school reach a boiling point when a student's body is found on Raven's Pointe's illustrious grounds. Fingers are pointed, accusations echo through the halls, and students live in fear. Everyone thinking they will be the next victim. Instead of worrying about passing tests, Jessica and her friends stalk through suffocating halls on the lookout for a brutal killer. Will Jessica and her newfound friends pass spells and potions or will someone, or something kill them first?
