Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch post-impressionist painter born on March 30, 1853, in Zundert, Netherlands. Despite struggling with mental health issues and facing little recognition during his lifetime, he produced over 2,000 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings and more than 700 drawings. Van Gogh's work is characterized by bold colors, dramatic and impulsive brushwork, and emotive subject matter, capturing the essence of landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and sunflowers. Among his most famous works are "Starry Night," "Sunflowers," and "The Bedroom," which have become iconic in the art world. His intense emotional struggles culminated in his tragic suicide in 1890 at the age of 37. Today, Van Gogh is celebrated as one of the most influential figures in Western art history, with his work admired for its vibrant emotion and profound impact on 20th-century art.
