STRANGER THINGS
THE ULTIMATE TRIVIA AND CURIOUS FACTS COLLECTION
CREATED BY TRIVIA HUB
Stranger Things is an American science fiction horror drama created by the Duffer Brothers for Netflix. The series is set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. The show follows the residents of Hawkins as they grapple with a hostile alternate dimension known as the Upside Down. The first season begins in 1983 when Will Byers is abducted by a creature from the Upside Down. The series has been praised for its characterization, atmosphere, acting, soundtrack, directing, writing, and homages to 1980s films. The show has also received numerous nominations and awards. The fifth and final season is expected to be released in 2025.
CURIOUS FACT SAMPLES:
The original title for Stranger Things was Montauk, and it was set in Long Island, New York, before the creators changed it to the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. The shift allowed them to have more creative control over the town, like placing it under quarantine, which wouldn't be possible with a real location.
The Duffer Brothers drew inspiration from 1980s pop culture, including films by Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, and Stephen King, as well as video games like Silent Hill and Dark Souls. They also took inspiration from the Cold War era and government conspiracy theories, such as Project MKUltra.
The series' title font and appearance were inspired by Stephen King's novel Firestarter, after Netflix requested the showrunners come up with a new title for the show. The title Stranger Things was chosen because it sounded similar to King's Needful Things.
