Pablo Escobar was a Colombian drug lord and the driving force behind the Medellín Cartel, which dominated the global cocaine trade in the 1980s and early 1990s. Born on December 1, 1949, in Rionegro, Colombia, he quickly ascended from small-time criminal activities to becoming one of the wealthiest and most powerful men in the world, with Forbes magazine listing him among the richest individuals globally. Known for his ruthlessness and innovative smuggling tactics, Escobar was also involved in brutal acts of violence that led to thousands of deaths. Despite his criminal activities, he was seen as a Robin Hood figure by some, as he invested heavily in community projects in Medellín, gaining significant local support. His reign ended when he was killed on December 2, 1993, by Colombian National Police, marking the decline of the Medellín Cartel's influence.
