CURIOUS FACT SAMPLES:

Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York, on February 17, 1963, but his family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, in 1968. He played basketball, baseball, and football at Emsley A. Laney High School, initially being deemed too short for the varsity basketball team.

During his sophomore year of high school, Jordan was only 5 feet 11 inches tall and was cut from the varsity basketball team, but after growing four inches the following summer, he made the team. As a senior, he averaged 26.8 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 10.1 assists per game and was selected for the McDonald's All-American Game.

Jordan's NBA debut with the Chicago Bulls was on October 26, 1984, where he scored 16 points, and a ticket stub from that game sold for $264,000 in 2021, setting a record for a collectible ticket stub. In his rookie season, he averaged 28.2 points per game and helped the Bulls reach the playoffs for the first time since 1981.
