Alexander the Great, born in 356 BC in Pella, Macedonia, was one of history's most renowned military leaders and conquerors. Tutored by the philosopher Aristotle, he ascended the throne at the age of 20 after the assassination of his father, King Philip II. Over the next decade, Alexander embarked on an unprecedented campaign of conquest across the Persian Empire, stretching from Greece through Egypt and into the heart of Asia to India. Known for his tactical genius and ambition, he created one of the largest empires in history by the age of 30 and spread Greek culture and influence throughout these regions. Despite his extraordinary achievements, his sudden death at the age of 32 in 323 BC led to the fragmentation of his empire, but his legacy endured through the Hellenistic period and shaped the course of history with the fusion of cultures he initiated.
