Five unlikely heroes. One doomed village. A journey they never saw coming — and probably should have avoided.

Zee has always been an outsider in his backwater town, too smart for his own good, too weak to be a warrior, and tragically lacking the magical "birthright" that makes others special. But when a desperate call for help reaches the village, promising wealth, glory, and probably a premature death, Zee and his closest friends (Bode, a streetwise thief; Arveragus, a ranger with a noble past; Nelson, a would-be paladin chasing his father's legacy; and Alicel, a healer with secrets of her own) decide to seize the opportunity.

What starts as a get-rich-quick scheme quickly spirals into something much darker (and much more life-threatening). A hidden mine, an ancient evil, and a creeping horde of undead stand between them and survival. As adventure and nightmare blur together, Zee and his friends realize that heroes aren't born. They are forged in blood, fear, and questionable decisions made on an empty stomach.

The unknown awaits. And unfortunately, they're walking straight into it.
