A spiritual void is formed when the fallen nature of a person is separated from its soul.
This takes place when the soul is subjugated and blinded by the appetites and lower instincts that drive our human fallen nature, and when there is an effort to fill this void with anything that belongs to this dark atheistic and secular world in which God and His living word, Jesus Christ are rejected.
The consequences of living in this void are a life of sin, darkness, disease, and death.
However, there is a way to paradoxically fill this spiritual void with emptiness, with a loving emptiness.
We do not need to add more garbage from this world to our lives; on the contrary, we need to get rid of all this accumulated garbage by emptying ourselves of everything that ties us to this world in order to return to God and free our soul to be with Him, walking with Jesus, who showed us the way by self-emptying Himself and becoming entirely receptive to His Father in Heaven's will.
Then, through our self-imposed emptiness, God's grace will fill us and there will be no more void in our lives because our Father in Heaven contains us all.
