Elvira Jones, particle physicist and martial arts enthusiast, works at CoherenceCo, a secret research establishment in present-day Hampstead.

Paris Evason, Grade 3 technician at the tourist-driven Time Travel Institute, is on the run from criminals within the organisation. To escape them he accidentally sends himself too far into the past - before time travel exists - and is stranded. Elvira takes him in, and together they try to contact the future authorities.
