Waking from what she believes is a nightmare, Julie Summers walks through her bedroom door and into a vision of the near future—an unfamiliar room, a woman strangled, and the face of the killer. A call to the police brings a mysterious "detective" to her door. Visions of a sacrificial murder to pay homage to a dark god come during his visit, and she soon learns that the detective works for an agency that wants to use her abilities for their own purposes.

Throughout her journey, Julie experiences a growth of powers she isn't aware that she has. Determined to keep from being part of a lab experiment, she struggles to assist in saving lives and lying low. She attempts to solve the mystery while running for her life—her freedom—and eventually, into the hands of the murderers.
