AMERICA'S GOT TALENT

THE ULTIMATE TRIVIA AND CURIOUS FACTS COLLECTION

CREATED BY TRIVIA HUB

America's Got Talent (AGT) is an American talent show competition that is part of the global Got Talent franchise. Created by Simon Cowell, the show features diverse acts competing for a large cash prize and a chance to headline a Las Vegas show. The show has had multiple hosts including Regis Philbin, Jerry Springer, Nick Cannon, Tyra Banks and currently Terry Crews. The judging panel has included David Hasselhoff, Brandy Norwood, Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, Howie Mandel, Howard Stern, Mel B, Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell, Julianne Hough, Gabrielle Union and Sofía Vergara. The show is known for its high viewership and has led to several spin-offs. The show has a unique audition format with buzzers, a Golden Buzzer, and various live show formats.

CURIOUS FACT SAMPLES:

Simon Cowell created America's Got Talent because he wanted a talent competition that was "far grander" than other televised contests. The original plan was for a British edition, but a dispute led to the American version premiering first.

America's Got Talent premiered on June 21, 2006, after the British version was suspended, and it was a ratings success for NBC. The show draws an average of around 10 million viewers per season.

The show has a wide range of acts, including singing, dancing, comedy, magic, and stunts. Participants try to impress a panel of judges to get into the live episodes.

The winner of America's Got Talent receives a large cash prize, which is mainly paid over a period of time. Since season three, the winner also gets a chance to headline a show on the Las Vegas Strip.
