The Epistle to the Galatians is, without contest, one of the most important Epistles written by the Apostle Paul.

His Apostleship being under severe attack, he vehemently defended it, refuting his Jewish detractors with solid arguments to establish the authenticity of his calling.

More importantly, however, Paul was really concerned regarding a dangerous ailment that was plaguing the Gentile Church.

Indeed, Judaizers – Jewish "believers" – had infiltrated the Galatian churches and were imposing circumcision and the Law of Moses upon the Gentile converts.

Scandalized, Paul fiercely rebutted the trouble-makers and rebuked the Galatians for having allowed themselves to be bewitched.

The Epistle to the Galatians is Paul's advocacy in favour of spiritual liberty in Christ – as opposed to bondage under the Mosaic Law.

For that reason, it has been rightly nicknamed "The Magna Carta of Christian Liberty".
