Karma Yoga, often understood as the yoga of selfless action, is one of the spiritual paths in Hindu philosophy that emphasizes action performed without any expectation of reward. Predominantly derived from the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, a sacred scripture of Hinduism, Karma Yoga is more than just a philosophical concept; it is a practical guide to living that encourages practitioners to engage in their duties and actions with a spirit of detachment from the fruits of those actions.

At its core, Karma Yoga is about purifying the heart and mind through selfless service. The practice teaches that all actions can be a form of worship if performed without selfish motives and in the spirit of contributing to the greater good. This approach to action seeks to transform an ordinary activity into a spiritual endeavor, thereby turning everyday life into a spiritual experience.

The philosophy of Karma Yoga is deeply entwined with the Indian concept of dharma, or duty. According to the Bhagavad Gita, each individual has their own dharma, determined by their place in life, their duties, and their responsibilities. Performing these duties without attachment to outcomes, and as an offering to the divine, is the essence of Karma Yoga. This relinquishes the ego's hold on the self and aligns the practitioner with a higher purpose.
