This book contains six wonderful Chinese tales of the supernatural, based on short stories by Pu Songling and published in 1766 as Liaozhai Zhiyi (聊斋志异, Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio).

The stories have been retold in easy Chinese by Yunjie Xiong, using simplified grammar and a limited Chinese vocabulary based on the HSK4 word list. Each page of Chinese faces a page of pinyin (phonetic spelling), so if you don't recognize a word, you can check the pinyin to see how it's pronounced. You can then look up the word's meaning in the glossary in the back of the book. A full English translation is also included. And you can also listen to a complete audiobook of these stories, available free on the Imagin8 Press YouTube channel.

Yunjie Xiong holds a Master's degree in Applied Science and has six years of experience as a freelance writer and translator. Her expertise includes writing and translating technical documents, reports, and novels. Her favorite genres are science fiction and fantasy.
