Once upon a time, Great Forest is invaded by two frog-eating dragons. Their flames and roars destroy the peace. Forest Squirrel writes his friend Beach Bird to report the damage. Beach Bird's return letter includes dreadful news. An Ancient Rhyme says, "Dragons and frogs will never, ever be friends!" Plua, Owl states a dragon egg is arriving soon - a third threat to the frogs.

When the mother dragon leaves for a 200-year vacation, the father dragon - asked to guard the egg - proves unreliable. His poor choices and lack of logic put the egg at the bottom of Deep Pond. Then Beach Bird calls for help at Ocean Wave City. Is there a hero anywhere to be found? One brave frog steps forward with compassion and common sense. His name is Melville, a hero no one ever knew was needed.
