"Terror in Red and White: Historical Analysis" delves into two significant periods of violent repression. We explore the Red Terror, linked to communist revolutions, where new regimes used violence to crush dissent, illustrated by examples from the Soviet Union under Lenin and Stalin. In contrast, the White Terror was a reactionary response aimed at restoring traditional power structures, often led by right-wing groups, with cases from Spain and Greece.
Despite their ideological differences, both Red and White Terrors employed similar methods—killings, arrests, and fear—to achieve their goals, leading to societal divisions and lasting trauma. Our book examines the causes, methods, and impacts of these terrors, the international response, and the importance of learning from history to prevent future violence and promote reconciliation.
