Ethiopian children are often taught practical, moral and ethical lessons through rhyming "terets" or proverbs which a teacher begins and the children answer. Young Ethiopian-born author-illustrator Ellemae Goering wanted to feature some common American proverbs in our light-hearted play on the phrases "let the cat out the bag" and "you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar."
