After Papa died, Elizabeth Bennet married her father's heir, Mr. Collins, so that her beloved sister Jane would not be forced to marry him to save the family from poverty. She had been only fifteen years old.

Mr. Collins was an awful, ugly man who mistreated the servants. And Elizabeth's marriage was an unending nightmare. Elizabeth felt joy when he died. Afterwards she dedicated herself to managing the estate she now had inherited, and making sure her family would never fear poverty again. After such a first experience of having a husband, she planned to never marry again.

Years later man a wealthy man leased the nearby estate of Netherfield, and Elizabeth met her new neighbor's haughty and handsome friend, Fitzwilliam Darcy. But when Elizabeth imagined a happy future with Mr. Darcy, her terrifying memories of Mr. Collins returned to torment her...
