This is a hilarious guide to the national anti-holiday on how to prepare and enjoy your very own Festivus. What is Festivus you may ask? It’s the event made famous by Frank Costanza (Jerry Stiller) on one of the most memorable “Seinfeld” episodes ever. This “holiday,” in which a bare aluminum pole replaces those stodgy old Christmas trees and Menorahs, and where participants compete in “feats of strength” and undertake the “airing of the grievances,” has transcended TV to become a national phenomenon. Thousands of people now celebrate Festivus, partly to thumb their noses at the commercialism of the holiday season and partly because it’s just so darn fun (and hey, aluminum poles are a lot cheaper than Christmas lights and a plastic Frosty the Snowman).
