A Kappa is a Japanese water spirit, often depicted as a small, humanoid creature with a turtle-like shell and mischievous intent.

Sometimes deadly intent.

Jennifer Levy didn't believe in them though. Kappas were a stupid myth her cousin used to frighten her with as a kid; a story she hadn't thought about in years. Not until she shared the legends with a young boy named Dale Oberman.
